christmas spirit

Just two sleeps to go...
although our little family celebrations start tomorrow evening and I can hardly wait!

tied with twine

I absolutely love Christmas.

The baking and making, the creating and wrapping...the giving.  Right now, I'm loving that it's raining and cool, that the music is playing and it's cosy inside.  I'm loving that the Christmas lights are glowing, that there is baking in the air.  I love that I've presents to wrap this afternoon and cards to finish.

I love that my Dad will have dinner with me and that tomorrow I'll celebrate a birthday with dear friends...

baby blue

Flowers from my gorgeous Dad...freshly picked from his garden.  Aren't they the most beautiful of cornflour blues?  I so adore this shade of hydrangea...so, so different to the deep pink ones in my garden.

Such an appropriate colour too...a little voice woke me this morning on the end of the telephone..."Mummy's had the baby, a boy...his name is Robbie...yes, I've nursed him, he's quite heavy".  My sweet God-daughter Olivia, bless her little cotton socks, on the arrival of her new baby brother.  Isn't she lucky - an older brother and a baby one too!  Thankfully, the snow had eased slightly and the midwife didn't have to come by the farm in a tractor!

Welcome, baby Robbie I so wish you were closer for a snuggle...

snowflakes

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

The tree is decorated...the baubles dancing in the soft glow of the tiny lights and a few little presents from afar nestled at the base.  It's rainy and (unseasonably) cool outside...one could almost imagine going out into the world to see a winter wonderland...and feel a snowflake falling, resting against one's cheek.

These sweet snowflakes above...so delicate and sumptuous simply melt in your mouth.  Much like a snowflake.  They are divine and a thoughtful gift from a lovely someone.
