gumnuts

My oh my, can you see Snugglepot and Cuddlepie...shall we try? Perhaps they're with the fairies and pixies dancing and singing at the bottom of the garden. I do so love imagining such magical fairytales...
I've been dreaming of winter wonderlands...these amazing images have their own magic. For some reason these gumnuts have reminded me of winter....soon autumn will be here.

bunny

Bunny was my mother's most precious possession - she was her confidante, her comfort and her most treasured friend as a young girl at boarding school in Kenya. Many, many miles away from her beloved parents and only six, bunny comforted her when she was homesick, gave her the most lovely hugs, often wiping away tears and listened to her school yard tales. Sewn with love by her mother, Bunny and her babies were always there.

Bunny now has a special place in my home - a little worn out with love but still so comforting. A small piece of history...if only she could share those childhood secrets.

Today is my darling Mummy's birthday.
Tonight there will be a star twinkling ever so brightly,
watching over us
...shining love upon us.

beautifully bound

I think these are quite possibly my favourite books. Amazing photos, inspirational words, lovely textures and, quite coincidentally, all by talented Australian women.

Sadly I was unable to meet Pia in person at her book signing whilst she was spending the summer in Sydney...so disappointing for me. Her take on life and adventures are wonderful - I'm constantly in awe. Her book, 'Paris: Made by Hand' makes me want to wander through Paris once more, this time exploring the 'real' Paris and not just it's more famous icons. It is with great anticipation I await the release of Pia's latest publications, 'Amsterdam: Made by Hand' and 'My Heart Wanders'.

However, I'm most excited about meeting the lovely and talented Kylie once more - her latest book of sweet poems, 'a once courageous heart' is to be launched on 05 March and I'm hoping to attend this special event. I do so love 'count me the stars'.

I know my little collection above will increase ever so soon and for that I can hardly wait!

my shadow

The first few days of this week it rained. A lot. The most we've had in one day in over 100 years. Even Molly's (not-so) secret hideaways in the garden were soggy and so she became my little black shadow. Yesterday however, the sun was shining once more, the grass was freshly mowed and we could roll around and play. And watch bugs...

red

Isn't this the loveliest of brooches? So simple in form yet so very stylish - a pop of colour on a black blazer or a crisp white shirt. And the bangles...well I just couldn't resist! I visited Elk and made some birthday purchases for friends and family in the next coming months - so many nice things. If only I could share them all but it would ruin the surprises! It was the sweet little birdie that I feel in love with...perhaps because I'm working on a little bird note card for my range.

berry sweet

Berries, to me, mean summer. Hot balmy evenings and lovely fresh fruit salads...so delish! Strawberries are one of my favourites, although they will never quite top a plate of fresh raspberries! Sadly it's too warm here for raspberries but I've found quite the perfect spot for strawberry plants in my garden...now I just need them to fruit all at once...not one at a time!
